What is A Migraine?
A migraine is a headache that can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. Tension headaches
This can be caused by a number of different reasons, some of which might be medical in nature and in the first instance should be investigated by your GP. In the event there is no underlying cause, sometimes the cause can be secondary to muscle tension in the upper face, lower jaw and back of the neck area. In these cases a full consultation and assessment is needed to determine the cause to see if there is a medical or dental cause and to see if a referral can be made to a medical or dental practitioner.
Recommended Treatments
In the event it is cause by muscle tensions, then the muscles can be relaxed using injectable injections to relax the muscles and this can be a treatment to alleviate headaches and migraines and can relieve muscle tension in the masseter muscle – muscle from the jaw. This can be helpful if patients are suffering from Bruxis, chronic grinding of the teeth.
There are few side effects from this treatment butt patients may experience mild tenderness and mild bruising at the injection site.
